Across India, poverty, limited access to education and essential resources, and deeply rooted social inequalities can leave women and children with few safe choices. When families struggle to meet basic needs, girls are denied educational opportunities, or women have no reliable way to earn an income, traffickers can exploit that vulnerability with false promises, coercion, debt, and other forms of deception.
For communities already facing discrimination and limited social mobility, breaking free can be even harder.
