How do I start a fundraiser for Sudara?
Tell us the idea, the timing, and who you are inviting, using the form on this page. Sudara will follow up with next steps and any materials you need. From there, choose a fundraiser that fits your life, set a goal, tell people why ending sex trafficking matters to you, and share it with your community.
Is there a minimum I need to raise?
No. You do not have to raise thousands of dollars. A small group of friends raising $100, or a workplace campaign raising $10,000, both count. Every dollar helps fund safety, education, healthcare, skills training, and economic independence for women and children in India.
What kinds of fundraisers work best?
The ones that already fit your life. Birthdays and other milestones, a personal challenge, a dinner or awareness event, an online campaign, offering a skill, or a workplace drive. There are no rules for creativity. If you want a partner, Sudara will help you put the event or campaign together.
Where does the money actually go?
Gifts go to Sudara Freedom Fund, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Funds support trusted partners in India who provide wraparound services: safe housing, healthcare, counseling, meals, transportation, education, childcare, skills training, and community support. Those services help women and children who are survivors of, or at high risk for, sex trafficking build lives defined by choice, not exploitation.
Can Sudara send me photos, logos, or materials to use?
Yes. Tell us what you are planning and we will send what fits, including graphics, social media content, campaign links, and ideas for sharing the mission. You do not have to figure this out alone.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, when the gift is made to Sudara Freedom Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) public charity (Federal Tax ID 87-0742833). Sudara issues a receipt for gifts made through our giving process. If you collect funds on a third-party platform, confirm receipting with that platform.
Do I need to be an expert, or travel to India?
No. You do not have to travel to India, and you do not have to be an expert in human trafficking. You have to care, and be willing to invite others to care with you.
