We love sharing stories of the women who, as part of a skills-training program, sew together Punjammies. The Sudara Stories series highlights a few of these strong, amazing women. Today, we are honored to introduce Neelo.
Neelo’s Story of Hope and Freedom
Neelo suffered difficulties early in her marriage and, ultimately, her husband left her alone and without any way to support herself financially. She came to one of our partner centers looking for a way to gain employable skills and eventually find a steady job. Neelo enrolled in training courses, focused on sewing and custom embroidery skills for three months until she graduated. After completing the training courses, she received a small business loan through our partner center and was able to purchase a sewing machine for her own home. Now she is able to work from her home and is able to earn enough money each month to sustain herself.
