What’s Happening Now

Flooding in Ramanthpur, our partner campus

Ramanthpur is experiencing heavy rains and severe flooding.

We need to urgently rebuild the boundary wall of our campus which has fallen down, as hundreds of children and young girls stay in the campus. We also need to repair service staff quarters that have been damaged. And we hope to help nearby villagers (with blankets, clothing, food) who have lost everything in the floods.

One of our generous supporters has offered to match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 to help with flood relief efforts. Your generosity, combined with this amazing match, can help us address the most pressing needs.

Will you help? Please indicate “flood relief” with your donation.

Why I Returned to the Red Light Area

One of our partner organizations, Kranti, has been sharing incredible stories from their team, and from the young ladies they support.

Here is Shweta’s story. Read in full HERE.

“They said I had a 10% chance of surviving.

That’s the number doctors gave me when I was diagnosed with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDRTB) in 2017. I was 22. For two years, I endured daily injections, experimental drug trials, and months of being bedridden. There were days I couldn’t walk. Nights I thought would be my last. Weeks I questioned whether I’d ever have a future. I lost weight, I lost hair, I almost lost my eyesight. The doctors prepared me for the worst. But what they didn’t prepare me for was surviving—and what to do with the life I was given back.”

Harita's Story

Harita’s life changed drastically when her father passed away after a long illness. Her mother worked tirelessly to find a job, but the small income she earned barely covered the rent, leaving little for anything else. Eventually, the family could no longer afford school fees, and Harita was forced to drop out.

This is when some neighbors directed Harita to our partner organization, John Foundation. Through our back-to-school program we were able to support her education.

Today, Harita is thriving, recently earning an A average in her exams. Her story is a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together to bring hope and opportunity to a child’s future.

Wholesale With Purpose

We learned that we can make faster progress toward our mission through revenue that we reinvest in our cause. So, we partner with wholesalers, distributors and corporations that want to “do good” by selling apparel and accessories hand-crafted by women we support who choose tailoring as their profession.

quote

Women have a chance to have choices. It’s not just about sewing, it’s about becoming who they want to be, what really lights them up.
